The Ritual

Eight minutes. Four steps. One quiet reset.

Kakinoha works best as a ritual, not a rush. The steps below take under eight minutes and turn your morning shower into the calmest part of the day — while giving persimmon tannin the contact time it needs to actually do its job.

Step 1 · 1 minute

Warm the water

Not hot — warm. Hot water strips the skin barrier and gives odor bacteria a head start. Aim for the temperature of a good bath: comfortable, not urgent.

Step 2 · 1 minute

Build the lather

Wet the bar. Roll it between your palms for a slow ten seconds until a creamy, low-foam lather builds. This is where persimmon tannin activates — the foam should feel silky, not squeaky.

Step 3 · 3 minutes

Work the odor zones first

Underarms, chest, feet, and behind the ears. Massage in small circles for a full 30 seconds each. Longer contact means more nonenal bound. This is the entire point.

Step 4 · 3 minutes

Rinse & pat dry

Rinse thoroughly with warm water — every trace of lather. Pat (don't rub) with a clean towel. Let skin air-finish for 60 seconds before dressing.

する事

Do

  • Use daily — persimmon tannin is a compounding effect, not a one-off
  • Store the bar on a slatted or cedar dish so it drains between uses
  • Follow with a light, unfragranced moisturizer if your skin runs dry
  • Give it a full two weeks before judging the result
避ける事

Don't

  • Leave the bar in standing water — it shortens its life dramatically
  • Layer fragranced body sprays right after (it undoes the reset)
  • Use scalding water — it strips the skin barrier
  • Rub with a rough towel; pat gently

Make one bar last 8 weeks

A bar of Kakinoha will disappear in three weeks if it sits in a puddle, and stretch to eight if it drains properly. The single upgrade we recommend: a hinoki cedar dish. Cedar wicks moisture, resists mold, and looks quietly beautiful.
